A young man who helped survivors during a blaze at a casino in the Mexican city of Monterrey has now been offered a new job as firefighter. The 19 year-old was working as parking attendant when the fire broke out and decided to spontaneously help.
During the blaze 53 people died and many were injured. A man told during investigations that the casino had refused to pay extortion money and that’s why fire was set to the establishment. It was the single deadliest attack on civilians in Mexico’s long raging drug war.
Apparently Gaddafi’s wife and her daughter as well as other family members have crossed the border into Algeria. Sources think that Gaddafi himself is still in Libya together with two of his sons. Algeria stated that the refugees were received on humanitarian grounds but the rebel forces demand their extradition.
Algeria seems for now the obvious choice of the Gaddafi family. The two countries not only share a long border but also the Algerian government has not so far recognised the rebel forces as limit new government of Libya. It remains to be seen where and when Gaddafi himself will be found.
Since 2006 online gambling is illegal in the US. With budget deficits hitting the states and the federal government, online gambling proponents are making another push to legalize online gambling in the US. They are arguing that online casino and online poker sites could raise millions in tax revenues and generate thousands of jobs. Another argument is that online poker, for instance, is a game of skill and not luck and thus should not fall under the category of gambling.
The ban has also not reduced the number of people playing online in the US. Many are now playing with offshore companies which are less safe. With good regulations in place, people could play with US based companies and be safer. At the same time the government could earn extra much needed cash. I guess we will have to wait and see where the debate will go from here.

The last meetings were in response to the stock markets crashing last week. They are proposing to introduce a tax on financial transaction as well as tighter economic cooperation in the EU which should be introduced on a step by step basis. It remains to be seen if this can calm investors.
